| Just to clarify things Justin,
Phrase of rugby: "He's Digging like a demented mole there"
or
"He's kicking like a machine!"
A phase of rugby is when the ball goes from one ruck until the play is tackled, and a ruck or maul is created. Hence multiple phases, lots of rucks and /or mauls until the ball is either lost or stoppage of play.

| Phrases and similes aren't mutually exclusive. If the simile is used fairly often, it'll be known as a phrase, as these are. Quite a few phrases of rugby, then, are similes, though not all. And most similes of rugby are phrases.
